DESCRIPTION:This course is designed to assist officers to enhance their investigative skills by providing them with knowledge of tools that they can use to increase the effectiveness of their efforts, and ensure a greater likelihood of success where it matters most, in the courtroom.  Instruction addresses: case law review; management and protection of informants; procedures for preparation of legally sufficient affidavits to secure issuance of search warrants; and pitfalls to avoid that could lead to a winning defense challenge to the validity of the warrant.
