DESCRIPTION:This class is designed to both update attendees on the many changes to Landlord Tenant and Restraining Order Law, as well as expose them to statutory requirements and procedures that many law enforcement officers have never been trained in. Recent legislation has reshaped how firearms prohibitions will be reported by the court and created new mandates for both the courts and law enforcement agencies.After completing this four hour block the student will have a more complete understanding of civil law and procedures that law enforcement officers are faced with daily in patrol functions. The student will be able to identify statutory requirements and be able to properly complete mandated documents and reporting provisions.The student will also have a comprehensive understanding of landlord tenant law. They will be able to ascertain where disputing parties are in the eviction process and apply appropriate remedies to a myriad of possible tenant and gratuitous guest situations.The outcome for the student will be a greatly increased capacity for understanding civil law and procedures encountered in the field leading to more efficient resolution of civil disputes.
