DESCRIPTION:ROAR (Respond-Observe-Assess-React): A Roadmap to Crisis Stabilization, Patrol Dynamics and Decision Making is a multidisciplinary (de-escalation) model developed to capture information retained by veteran personnel who recognize the value of their experience and share it minimally or in a haphazard fashion. This roadmap utilizes the psychological principles of human behavior which operationally articulate the thoughts behind the decision making process. ROAR can be utilitzed to respond to fluid and dynamic events with ideally increased confidence. ROAR is applicable to assist first responders as a road map and help articulate one's actions. The aspiration of ROAR is to orient the responder, promote confidence, action fluidity, and attention to relevant details which can impact the outcome of a volatile situation. ROAR also addresses: peace officer wellness, incident management, documentation and critical incident review.  ROAR is generalizable to field response, also known as patrol operations.This course will include an overview of common health disorders, as well as miliary culture.
